PCT is a project that aims to develop a software system of translating Portuguese and Chinese document bi-directionally. It can increase the readability of both-linguistic document (Portuguese and Chinese) in various media (text editor and  Web). During the progress of development, we successfully produced a preliminary result of the development and it has been first released in December 1999. This first public version (PCT version 1.0) offers the function of   Portuguese and Chinese bi-directional word by word machine translation under Microsoft Chinese Windows 95 and Windows 98.   PCT is still under continuous improvement. We expect the PCT version 2.0 will be released in the near future. Therefore, a complete Portuguese and Chinese Sentence-by-Sentence Translation System will be then provided with far more efficiency.
